Former Italy coach reveals his two Champions League favourites

Football News

Former Italian coach Marcello Lippi says Manchester City and Bayern Munich are the favorites to win the Champions League and insists that five clubs can still be crowned Serie A champions.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City are slightly ahead of each other, I believe. Bayern has the best team in Europe, and City has won 16 matches in a row in the Premier League. They are the most dangerous clubs,” the winner of the 2006 Italian World Cup told Radio 1.

“This is an odd season,” admitted Lippi.

“We’re moving from Inter 50 to Roma 43, with Napoli and Juve having a match in hand. Up until the end, those four-five clubs will be title challengers.

There’s always a need for Juventus to find their identity, they’ve changed a lot and they haven’t had a chance to try new stuff except in league games. Milan is still in the race, one point off the table leaders, addressing the issues they used to have, adding some depth to their team.

They have more self-esteem and awareness.”
