Cole Palmer scored his first Champions League goal as Manchester City produced one of the high-scoring football scores in the Champions League. This was touted to be a tricky fixture for the champions of England after their 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain last matchday. Manchester City took the lead through Joao Cancelo in the 30th minute before Riyad Mahrez doubled their lead in the 43rd minute. Kyle Walker scored in the 53rd minute before Palmer added the fourth in the 67th minute. Hans Vanaken pulled one back for the hosts before Mahrez added his second from the penalty spot.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: “We were so good. It was one of the best performances we have done in Europe. We made a good game, our pressing was good. We recovered the ball so quickly and after that, we used the ball with a lot of sense,” he added. “We found a lot of passes with Phil. We had runners in behind. We could have scored more goals, we had many chances. All of us are delighted with the performance we have done.”
