Scott Hogan scored late on to help Birmingham produce one of the close football results of the weekend in the Championship. In a game where neither side created too many clear-cut chances, Patrick Bauer looked to have scored the match-winner after 31 minutes. Birmingham made a triple substitution that gave them the impetus to go on and score the equalizer four minutes from time.
Managers Reaction
Preston’s Ryan Lowe: “I’m disappointed, I felt we had opportunities at 1-0 to finish the game off. I would have liked us to test the keeper a bit more. We are probably 60 percent of where we want to be at the minute. We’ve got seven points out of nine so far, it’s good but we want to be better. I thought we were OK first half, we got into some good positions but we didn’t have that killer instinct and that killer pass.”
Birmingham’s Lee Bowyer: “I’m really pleased because Scotty [Hogan] has had a tough week with some personal things going on away from the game. I’m glad he got the goal and it is an important result for us away from home. I have to give the players full credit for the way they kept on going and pushing right until the end like that. I think we could have nicked a win. We dug deep and kept on pushing and fighting. I will always keep on fighting and pushing these players and they will keep fighting for the club.”
