Nathan Patterson and Che Adams were on the scoresheet as Scotland secured one of the comfortable football results of the weekend in World Cup Qualifying. The win helped Steve Clarke and his side secure a play-off spot for the World Cup 2022. Paterson opened the scoring seven minutes before halftime while Adams doubled their lead with a simple finish in the 65th minute. The visitors avoided a nervy finish when Craig Gordon saved a penalty with eight minutes of regulation time left. The win was their fifth consecutive win which was the first time they managed to do so since 2007.

Managers Reaction
Scotland boss Steve Clarke: “I think it was a good performance on the night: going forward, trying to create chances. A lot of shots but only two goals.” he added. “Obviously the penalty at the end could have made it a little bit nervous but when you need him Craig is always there to make the save. He made one really good save in the first half and one in the second half. So a good contribution from everybody, and obviously we’re pleased to get the second position and now we have a game against Denmark and all our focus goes to that.”
