Leeds produced a thoroughly professional performance to produce one of the unexpected football results of the weekend in the Premier League. It was the first win of the season for Leeds who finished in the top half of the table last season. They looked to be hitting their form last season when Diego Llorente put them in front in the 18th minute. Watford on the other hand was sloppy in possession but managed to find the back of the net in the second half. Their joy was short-lived with VAR ruling the goal out for a foul on Liam Cooper in the build-up.

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa: “The number of chances, the number of balls we had to attack, made us think we could have scored more goals. But as we defended well, the triumph was never in danger.” he added. “It’s a detail that is very necessary to build victories [clean sheets] and today we avoided that so it didn’t create any danger.”
Watford manager Xisco: “I don’t think about this [the disallowed goal], I’m thinking about the performance.” he added. “I’m disappointed with the performance. In the first half, it was not on our level, we were a little disordered, we leave big spaces and I don’t agree with the first half. But the second half, there was a little more order, but the capacity for our team was attacking poorly in situations.”
