FC Dallas’ Gonzalez suspended because of domestic abuse incidents

MLS has announced that FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez has been suspended after alleged local abuse episodes. The league is investigating the charges following an ongoing report to the Frisco Police Department. While these investigations are continuous, Gonzalez will experience a physical assessment and will be unable to join FC Dallas for any team activity. Although those investigations are underway, Gonzalez will experience a physical examination and will be unable to join FC Dallas for any team operation.

“FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez has been suspended by Major League Soccer following a report to the Frisco Police Department alleging local abuse episodes. MLS is leading a free investigation into the matter and will remain in close communication with FC Dallas, local law requirement, and the MLS Players Association all through the process.MLS will have no further remark on this matter until the League’s investigation is finished up,” the league said in a statement.

FC Dallas started its own, saying the club will work cooperatively with MLS as the procedure plays out.

“We heard about allegations encompassing goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez earlier this week,” read the email from FC Dallas.

Having marked his first professional contract as a homegrown player in 2015, Gonzalez has been with FC Dallas since 2011.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper, having started a total of 101 regular season matches during his career, has been an apparatus in net since turning into the full-time starter in 2017.

Gonzalez, who started 32 matches last season, had two matches in goal for each of FC Dallas before the league shut down due to coronavirus.

MLS has as of late accepted a proposal to allow teams to come back to full training with one eye on an imminent tournament in Orlando.
