Everton Women: Claire Emslie

Everton Women star Claire Emslie revealed what a privilege it was to play with Marta as well as her preparation for the new WSL season. She recently played for Scotland too and scored a brilliant goal against the Faroe Islands. A curling free-kick nestled into the top corner and although it was their seventh goal it was one to savor. The Scottish star has played for Orlando Pride in America before playing in Australia with Melbourne City.

“I was excited and I was not going to hide it,” Everton Women star Claire Emslie said. “They say to celebrate every goal and I had just scored at Hampden. It was special with fans back and especially with my mum and dad there because they had not seen me play for a couple of years.”

“I went from the English league to the World Cup to the American League to the Australian league and back to America so I have not had a proper break for a while,” she added. “It meant that I went from the end of one season straight into another one and then straight into another one. Then we had Covid-19 but everyone kept training because they did not know when football was going to start again. It was good to have a break, finally.”

“In Orlando, I got to play with Marta, who I consider to be the best player in the world, which was incredible. She taught me a lot about being patient because I like to run a lot. She told me to pick the times when to use my energy. That was something I picked up from her.” she added.
