Everton and Arsenal Battling For Stones

Football News

According to reports, John Stones could be offered an escape course from his nightmare stretch at Manchester City, with the previous club Everton enthused about a get-together.

Stones have fallen undesirable with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad and is at present the club’s fifth-decision center-back.

According to The Sun, the 26-year-old is ‘unhappy’ with his place in the team and will think about his choices this summer. The report proceeds to propose that the Toffees would be interested in a cut-value deal for the England international, having offered him to City for £47million in 2016. Arsenal is also thought to be interested in marking Stones, who has two years left on his present deal.

Stones was left on the seat for Man City’s emphatic 4-0 win over recently delegated champions Liverpool on Thursday and are yet to make an appearance for the club post-lockdown.

While he has been on the seat for the last two games having defeated an ankle injury during the lockdown, Guardiola has gone with 19-year-old Eric Garcia at center-back instead, placing further uncertainty over Stones’ future at the club.

Altogether, Stones has just made 20 appearances for City this season – a stressing number if Stones wants to nail down a place his Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the following summer’s Euro 2021 finals.
