After losing in the semis of the 2018 World Cup, England heads into Euro 2020 as one of the favorites. They are looking to end a 55-year wait for a European Championship from next week onwards. Could it finally be coming home?
Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford
Jordan Pickford has been the Number 1 between the posts for some time now. This year though he faces still competition from Dean Henderson. However, Gareth Southgate has shown trust in Pickford and has not been let down thus far. He enjoyed some good form at the end of the 2020/21 Premier League season.
Defender: John Stones
Harry Maguire will miss out on the group stages for England after he got injured in the run-in for Manchester United. John Stones has had the best season of his career under Pep Guardiola. He and Ruben Dias came up with a number of world-class performances at the back this season.
Midfielder: Jordan Henderson
Jordan Henderson has been one of the most influential players in the midfield for both England and Liverpool. His experience and leadership qualities will be crucial if England is gonna take home the Euro 2020 title. Henderson has just come back from a long injury layoff and will hope he can regain his match fitness in the group stages.
Forward: Harry Kane
England are blessed with a number of talented wingers but without Harry Kane they won’t be able to hurt opponents. The Three Lions’ captain is one of the best English strikers for quite some time and won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, scoring six goals.
