North Macedonia will make its debut in an international tournament at Euro 2020. They finished behind Austria and Poland in qualifying but were able to advance to the tournament via the playoffs. They beat Kosova and Georgia to secure qualification. Though complete novices at this level, North Macedonia does have plenty of talent and a good amount of experience in their squad.
Goalkeeper: Stole Dimitrievski
Dimitrievski was the Number 1 keeper for Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish second division last season. He has firmly established himself as the North Macedonia keeper in recent years.
Defender: Ezgjan Alioski
Ezgjan Alisoki plays for Leeds United in the Premier League. In spite of his position, Alioski will be one of the most attacking weapons for North Macedonia in Euro 2020. He has 15 league goals and 13 assists for Leeds United over the last three seasons. He also has six goals in his 20 international caps since 2018.
Midfielder: Eljif Elmas
A number of reports suggested that Elmas was on his way to join Alisoki in Leeds last summer. Napoli rejected the bid as they were not willing to part ways. This proved a problem for Elmas who hardly featured for Napoli this season.
Forward: Goran Pandev
The former Lazio and Inter striker is plying his trade with Genoa in Serie A. He has scored 16 goals for them over the last two seasons. At the international level, Pandev is North Macedonia’s greatest goalscorer with 37 strikes, while he’s also their most-capped player of all time with 117. His most recent goal was in that shock 2-1 win over Germany in the last international break
