The Netherlands will head into Euro 2020 hoping to win their first European Championship since Euro 2008. The Dutch lost all their group games in Euro 2012 before failing to qualify for Euro 2016. They failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia too. Recently, Netherlands has improved drastically finishing runners-up in the UEFA Nations League.

Goalkeeper: Maarten Stekelenberg

Jasper Cilessen pulled out of the Euro 2020 recently after testing positive for COVID-19. Veteran goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenberg is set to takeover the Number 1 jersey for the Netherlands in Euro 2020. Initially a backup to Andre Onana, the 38-year old has been Ajax’s no.1 since Onana’s 12-month ban.

Defender: Matthijs de Ligt

In 2018, De ligt won the Golden Boy award. In doing so, he became the first defender to do so. Juventus snapped De Ligt up in 2019 for a fee of €75 million. De Ligt is well known for his positional play and ball playing skills.

Midfielder: Frenkie de Jong

Frankie De Jong keeps this Dutch side ticking while Martin De Roon and Wijnaldum screen the defence. De Jong has become a mainstay of this Dutch side for the past two years winning 25 caps in the process. De Jong is one of the best in the world to recycle possession. Lately, he has taken up a more creative role in the team.

Forward: Memphis Depay

No one shone more in Oranje’s qualifying campaign than Memphis Depay, who reinvented himself under Ronald Koeman to devastating effect. Across six Euro 2020 qualification games, he bagged six goals and created a further eight.

Maarten Stekelenburg; Owen Wijndal, Matthijs de Ligt, Stefan de Vrij, Daley Blind, Denzel Dumfries; Frenkie de Jong, Marten de Roon, Georginio Wijnaldum; Memphis Depay
