England Player ratings

England beat Denmark in the second semifinal of Euro 2020 with Harry Kane scoring the winner in extra-time. Find the England player ratings below

Jordan Pickford – 7

Pickford was beaten for the first time in the tournament to the first direct free-kick goal scored in the tournament.

Kyle Walker – 6

Walker had a much better game than he had in the quarterfinal against Ukraine. He was good defensively but did not provide much going forward.

John Stones – 6

Stones stepped up to the occasion with another solid display and did not buckle under the pressure.

Harry Maguire – 8

Maguire was instrumental in restricting Denmark to only a freekick goal. He carried the ball out of defence on a number of occasions to release the pressure.

Luke Shaw – 6

As with Walker, the full-back did not provide much moving forward apart from the early stages.

Declan Rice – 7

Rice was assertive and positive with his distribution in the game as well as aggressive in defence.

Kalvin Phillips – 8

Like his partner rice, Phillips covered the defence to perfection. his tenacity and distribution were top class.

Mason Mount – 6

Mount was relatively quiet compared to his normal standards. He never looked like the one that would unlock the defence but it wasn’t for his lack of trying.

Bukayo Saka – 8

Saka was the shining light throughout the first half. His ability to get past opponents was critical in the equalizer. He was unfortunate to be taken off on the 70-minute mark with Grealish not being as influential.

Raheem Sterling – 8

Sterling picked up the ball and ran at the defence all night long. He was finally rewarded in extra time when he earned the penalty which Harry Kane duly scored. He later said he was definitely fouled for the penalty.

Harry Kane – 8

What a couple of seconds: The worst penalty of his career followed by England’s best moment in over 50 years. Had gone close in the final seconds of normal time and then demanded a smart save from Schmeichel at the start of extra-time as the England captain delivered his best display of the tournament. He earned the man of the match as well as the highest in our England player ratings.
