The English Football League (EFL) has announced that eight individuals connected to Championship clubs have tested positive for coronavirus in the current round of testing.

There were 2,213 tests carried out on players and staff across the division ‘s 24 clubs with the positive outcomes originating from six teams.

An EFL statement released Wednesday read: “Those players or club staff who have tried positive will currently isolate themselves in accordance with the EFL rules. The entrance of training ground facilities will be allowed distinctly to the individuals who have tried negative.”

The Championship is set to start on Saturday, three days after the Premier League re-start, and anyone who’s played well in this round should miss the first round of matches.

Brentford, who faces Fulham back in the English second-level first game, stated that they have returned one of the positive outcomes, without indicating whether it was a player.

Across League One and League Two, 428 players and staff were looked at from a total of eight teams. Four of those tests conveyed a positive outcome.
