According to the BBC, Argentinean legend Diego Maradona will be released from the hospital on Wednesday and taken to a rehab center to be treated for alcohol abuse.
Earlier in November, Maradona, who led his country to World Cup victory in 1986, had a successful operation for potential bleeding on his brain. However, signs of withdrawal stopped him in the hospital for longer. His lawyer, Matias Morla, said “The good thing is that Diego is together, Diego is big.”
Maradona was admitted last week with anemia and dehydration to the Ipensa clinic in Buenos Aires.
At the rehabilitation center, only a few close friends would be allowed to see the 60-year-old.
Perhaps the most difficult moment in his life, Diego went through and I think it was a miracle they found this bleeding in his brain that could have cost him his life,” added his lawyer.
