According to Di Marzio, De Rossi – who has no coaching experience at any point – is being considered by Fiorentina for their post next season. The Viola are now on their season’s second boss, appointing Giuseppe Iachini after Vincenzo Montella lost the job late in December.
Fiorentina has struggled to remain above the relegation zone following the management shift and is currently sitting just six points clear of the drop. Even if the Viola survives the season, they are likely to replace Iachini on the bench and have been intermittently linked with Luciano Spalletti in the last few months.
Instead of hiring the former boss of Roma, however, Di Marzio pipped the former Roma captain to get the shock going to Firenze. Despite no coaching experience whatsoever, for Rocco Commisso this will be a bold and risky decision, but De Rossi has always been seen as a manager in the making, so it’s a gamble that could produce big returns for Fiorentina.
