David Seaman: Arsenal should sign ‘Ferdinand-esque’ Ben White

Football News

David Seaman Ben White

Arsenal legendary goalkeeper David Seaman has revealed that Brighton and England’s center-back Ben White is the perfect replacement for David Luiz. White was a key component of Leed’s backline when they won a promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago. He was at Leeds on loan from Brighton. The defender put up similar performances in the Premier League last season helping Brighton defend their Premier League status. He is a key component in the back three of Brighton. White covered in midfield towards the end of the season, a role he played at his time in Leeds.

“He’s got the physique, he’s got the temperament. At Leeds it’s a high-press, high-tempo game, so his fitness is also not in doubt.” David Seaman said about Ben White. “The only question mark you can put on him is can he play in the big games? But we’ll just have to wait and see because he’s not played in them yet.”

”Hopefully, he will go on and play for England and when he does that, hopefully, he will carry on [with his development].” he added. “Would he be a good signing for Arsenal? Of course, he would because he’s a good player.”

White has been linked with a move away from Brighton this season with Manchester United and Arsenal extremely keen on his services. Recently during media day at Euro 2020, White named Rio Ferdinand among the players he looked up to growing up.

“I think it is a little bit of everyone, trying to pick little bits out of each defender,” said White. “Obviously watching the Premier League every week you can see the different types of players and pick different things out of each player. Rio Ferdinand, that was the one for me.”
