Danny Murphy has told talkSPORT not to expect that Trent Alexander-Arnold could ever win the Ballon d’Or award.

Since blasting onto the scene, the 21-year-old right-back has gained colossal help, with Brazilian legend Cafu praising him enthusiastically repeatedly.

“He is an amazing player, a remarkable talent. On the off chance that he keeps on playing the way he has been, he’ll be considered as one of the world’s best players. He has the chance to win the [Men’s Player for Best FIFA] title. He is brilliant technologically, has so much quality. He has a playful Brazilian topic. I simply love to watch him play. And it will assist him with growing up playing in such a great team,” Cafu told FIFA.com.

Ex-Liverpool man Murphy accepts the praise of Cafu was unrealistic, however.

Murphy said on talkSPORT on White and Sawyer: “I think he has had the option to praise him without talking about the Ballon d’Or. Generally, the Ballon d’Or is for goalscorers and the superstars are it not? In any case, he’s a great, fantastic talent. He won’t win the Ballon d’Or. I think it is hard to even in a midfield position. Can he score goals from midfield and twist with his passing in free-kicks and open safeguards? However, will that ever be sufficient to win a Ballon d’Or? [Luka] Modric won one of those, did he not? Yeah, it’s conceivable, you ‘re saying nothing yet I don’t think so.

“Right now there is such a great amount of talent around, protectively you think an inside half like Virgil van Dijk will perhaps be one of only a handful rare sorts of people who has the potential. But since he is a without a doubt defender, he is on an alternate level,” he added.
