Crystal Palace Jean-Philippe Mateta

Crystal Palace has completed the signing of Jean-Philippe Mateta from Mainz on a permanent as well as Luke Plange from Derby. Mateta joined on loan last season and has now penned a four-and-a-half-year deal. Palace paid £9m for his services. He has made 15 appearances this season while scoring three goals.

“I’m happy. I want to say thank you to the gaffer, he trusted in me. And [thank you to] Dougie [Freedman], the Chairman [Steve Parish] and the team and the fans also, and my family,” Jean-Philippe Mateta said after completing his move to Crystal Palace.

“I’m very excited to be joining a big Premier League club. I’m ready to crack on,” Luke Plange said. “Obviously I’ll be with Derby, fighting for them in the Championship at the moment, but I will be ready to go back to Crystal Palace in the summer and get ready to go.”

“We are delighted to secure the long-term future of Jean-Philippe. Coming to a new country, a new team, and a new league is not easy and JP worked incredibly hard to get and then take his opportunities,” Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said. “He really has shown the aptitude, attitude, and dedication we look for along with his natural footballing ability. I’m looking forward to seeing much more of him in a Palace shirt. Luke is an exceptionally talented young footballer and one we hope will bring a range of attributes to the club in the years to come.”
