Milan reportedly offered Hakan Calhanoglu €3.5m a season, but foreign Turkey needs €5m plus bonuses.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport states that the Rossoneri meeting with representatives of Calhanoglu in December brought hope back to Milanello.
The Rossoneri offered EUR 3,5m per year, an increase of EUR 1m compared to its previous deal. But the midfielder is searching for more and has replied with a claim for €5 million-plus bonuses.
In July 2017, Calhanoglu arrived in San Siro and his current contract expires in June 2021, meaning that from January, the 26-year-old will speak to other clubs.
So far this term, the former Bayer Leverkusen star has contributed seven assists and one goal in 14 Serie A games and the newspaper says that Milan and Calhanoglu are expected to meet in the middle.
