Bonucci to Conte “You have to respect the referee”

Football News

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci called Inter coach Antonio Conte to order during the Italian Cup semi-final (0-0, 2-1 first leg).

Milan forward Lautaro Martinez struck Federico Bernardeschi’s leg in the penalty area 10 minutes later. Maurizio Mariani, the game’s referee, did not give a penalty, which prompted Conte’s passionate response.

Some minutes later, before Bonucci and Conte collided, Inter defender Matteo Darmian got a yellow card for a foul on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Leonardo, who played at Juve under Antonio, told the coach: “You have to respect the referee.”

Conte appealed to the referee, even remembering the moment involving Lautaro and Bernardeschi once again, but the VAR system ultimately acknowledged the correctness of Mariani’s decision.
