Amari’i Bell was the man of the match today as he scored the only goal for Luton Town in a 1-0 win over Barnsley in the Championship. It was his first goal in 58 games with his last goal coming in March 2019. This was their fifth away victory at Barnsley in the last six visits. Barnsley could not get going and had a dismal performance in front of the goal.
Luton Town scored from the first attack with Elijah Adebayo crossing into the box but Cameron Jerome fluffed his attempt. The ball fell kindly to the man of the match today Bell, who buried the ball into the right of the goal. Luton had conceded five goals in their last two games, saw out the match comfortably in the end.
Manager’s Reaction
Barnsley’s Markus Schlopp: “It was really disappointing. It was a tough game and we weren’t clinical. They defended with intensity but we need to improve when we get in certain situations and have got to be better with certain details. It was a similar game to Saturday though. We beat Coventry 1-0 then, but everything wasn’t perfect and, although we have lost this game 1-0, we didn’t do everything badly.”
Luton’s Nathan Jones: “This win was for big Mick. We know he started his treatment today and Mick’s a big part of Luton Town. He has a relationship with everyone at the club and we’re missing him but he knows the lads are there for him and it was a big win for him.” he added.
