Barcelona announce its plan to appeal the two-match suspension ruling against Messi

Football News

Barcelona has announced that it plans to appeal the two-match suspension ruling against forwarding Lionel Messi.

In the Spanish Super Cup match, the Argentine was penalized for a blow to the back of the head of athletic striker Asier Villalibre (2:3). In 753 games in a Blaugrana jersey, Messi got his first red card.

Because of the suspension, the striker will miss the matches in the Spanish Cup with Cornell and in La Liga with Elche.

According to the rules, if his kick was regarded as offensive behavior, Messi could miss 4 to 12 games. In the article, the referee did not suggest that the Barca forward was displaying hostility.

Messi went insane: he struck his opponent on the head and got his first red card (753 matches!) for Barcelona.
