Gian Piero Gasperini, the head coach of Atalanta, has revealed his hopes for the Champions League 1/8 finals match against Real Madrid (0-1 first leg).
“This year, there will be no fans at the matches. It’s a shame that Atalanta fans are unable to fly across Europe. In Madrid, it would be a true festival,” Gasperini told Sky Sport Italia.
“Did you get a penalty in the first match? We must consider [the upcoming] game. Concentrate solely on it, since it will become even more complicated as time passes. We want to compete with Real, so we have to think about this game a lot.
The first half will give us an idea of how the match will be balanced. We need to figure out how to fend off Real and what we have to sell. We are ambitious, but we are up against a formidable foe. We have a few tactics in mind, and our goal is to remain in the game as long as possible. We will not, without a doubt, remain unchanged.”
