AS Roma agrees to a three-year deal with New Balance

Football News

As planned, il Romania, the Italian website, reports that AS Roma has agreed to a three-year deal with New Balance, the American sportswear company.

The contract will initially run for three years and the main argument is that AS Roma offers a better-guaranteed amount for a “larger percentage” of revenue to be received. This also means that a contract was entirely made with Reebok.

In other news, Roma is currently negotiating an extension of their Qatar and Hyundai sponsorship agreements that will both expire this June.

According to RomaPress, AS Roma is expected to announce New Balance as the new shirt supplier for the club. This reinforces our earlier suspicion that New Balance was by far the club’s most likely option.

Having also held talks with Adidas, Castore and Under Armour, according to a source from the club owners of The Friedkin Group, Roma will earn an annual basic amount of just EUR 4 million. The club would, however, receive a “significantly larger percentage” of revenue, which had been a major criticism of the previous Nike deal.

In July, Roma had announced that after the current 2020-21 campaign, the contract with Nike would end earlier than expected.

It remains to be seen if New Balance in the 2021-22 campaign will already be the club’s jersey supplier or whether we will see in-house kits again due to the little time left until then.
