Until the end of the season, Arsenal has signed Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Mat Ryan on loan.
The Gunners were looking to bring in an experienced stopper to provide competition for proven No. 1 Bernd Leno, who struggled to impress with the summer signing of Runar Runarsson.
They also brought in Australian international Ryan, who after being dropped by manager Graham Potter had fallen down the pecking order at Brighton.
Ryan was excited to join Arsenal with a series of images on his Twitter page in his new kit, which showed he was going to wear No.33 for the Gunners.
He wrote: “Signing for the club you grew up supporting as a kid. Buzzing to be beginning this new chapter and will give everything I’ve got to contribute to the first club I ever loved.”

After being signed by Chris Hughton following promotion to the Premier League in 2017, the 28-year-old was the Seagulls No.1, making 121 appearances in the competition, but he has lost his place to Robert Sanchez in the starting XI, and will now provide back-up at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told the Gunners’ official website: “Through his performances with Brighton in recent seasons, we know Mat very well and he brings our squad additional quality.”
“Mat has very good experience in the Premier League and has played in the league over 100 times, which is something that will greatly benefit us on and off the pitch. We welcome Mat to Arsenal and look forward to this season working with him.”
