Arsenal manager argues that both Juventus and Barcelona are overly reliant on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Football News

Former Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger spoke with beIN Sports about the role of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, as well as the place of Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

– Are you afraid that Juventus depends too much on Ronaldo? You don’t think that’s a risk?

—I don’t think that this is a possibility. The issue is that only Ronaldo relies on Juventus. This whole scenario just shows that it’s not good enough for the players playing alongside him. They aren’t at the stage they need to be.

For Messi, the same goes. If the team relies on him too much, it means that the Barca players aren’t good enough.

If good players are becoming a team problem, then there’s something wrong, you know? The problem is not good enough players. And good players just want to surround themselves with good players. It’s quick to put pressure on them, but they have to score after all.

Messi and Ronaldo also want to be surrounded by good players and they are losing out on Barcelona and Juventus right now.
