Arsenal back in race to sign Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu

Football News

Arsenal is back in the running to sign Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu after the Dutch club decided to drop their asking price. The Gunners were linked with the Turkey international last summer, but his £23m valuations are believed to have scared them off.

According to Spanish outlet La Razon, the 20-year-old could now be available for as little as £10 million, as Feyenoord needs to ease its financial woes. The ink is still drying on Orkun Kokcu’s five-year contract, which he signed last year. Still, only a few months after signing with Feyenoord, it is more possible that his future lies outside of De Kuip. Whether or not he wishes to go, it appears that the decision will be taken away from Kokcu.

“I have a deal until 2025, but things have changed,” the Turkey international recently told VI.

“Feyenoord has been very open about their financial state, which is dire. So, if a club comes to me with a reasonable offer and the club will receive a good amount, I believe the offer would be considered.”

One of Holland’s most important clubs is slipping into a financial quagmire. And it seems that selling a star player or two is the most possible way out.
