Antonio Rudiger: Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel believes that Chelsea is the perfect club for Antonio Rudiger as he hopes to keep the German at the club with his contract running out this summer. A host of top European clubs are after the defender with reports suggesting that Chelsea needs to make him the highest earner at the club to keep his services. Despite his contract situation, Tuchel hailed the professionalism of the defender for not letting it affect his performances.

“It does not affect his mentality, it does not affect his quality and it does absolutely not affect his behaviour,” Thomas Tuchel said about Antonio Rudiger. “He is fully committed to Chelsea right now. I am absolutely sure he feels the trust and respect and the love from the club and from the spectators. He is a big competitor and he is in exactly the right spot. He is in the most competitive league, he is at a club where he really matters and that suits him perfectly, so let’s be patient and hopefully, we have a good ending.”

“For me, I see no reason why we should now get carried away and think about things like ‘is he the best in the world, the best in England or the best in Europe’,” he added about Reece James. “This does not help us. I am happy when he tries to be the best Reece James today in training. If he plays he needs to be the best version of himself in the best position.”
