The performance of Antoine Griezmann in Barcelona is important for head coach Ronald Koeman.

Barca is preparing to face Granada on Wednesday in a distant Copa del Rey quarter-final.

After Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid crashed out against lower-league opposition, they are favorites to win the competition.

As Barca won 4-0 last month at Los Carmenes in LaLiga, Griezmann scored twice and set up another.

Koeman praised the World Cup winner for his improvement in the form before their latest meeting in the cup, which was partly ignited by that outing.

In his last seven games, he has five goals, including the winner in a 2-1 home victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

“All season Antoine is working well,” Koeman said at his pre-match news conference.

[He did] what a player has to do, which is to support the team to the fullest.

There have been times with Antoine when he was scoring and those when he wasn’t scoring, but they’re periods that any footballer goes through, we’ve all seen it.

“Now he is perfect, and that is important to me. We want to get the most out of each player in the squad.”

Griezmann has seven goals in his last six Los Carmenes games and had netted just three times in his first 16 LaLiga appearances this season before his star display in the last meeting.

Barca has five direct LaLiga victories, four of which came with clean sheets. Under Koeman, who hopes they can take the shape into the cup, it is their best sprint.

“It is a different game because it is the cup and they are always different games from the championship,” said the Dutchman.

I also think both of them [Granada] and we played a lot of games-they had even more.

Do not forget that we had quite a few problems playing our game at the start of the other game. We’re expecting a tough game where we have to be concentrated.

Koeman wouldn’t go as far as saying that his top priority over LaLiga now was the Copa del Rey.

But with Atletico Madrid sitting 10 points ahead with a game in hand atop the standings, he concedes it is the most possible path to domestic silverware.
