Allegri and Sarri are on Roma’s shortlist

Football News

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Roma owner Dan Friedkin is dissatisfied with the team’s success this season under head coach Paulo Fonseca.

On Matchday 27 of Serie A, the Romans were defeated 0-2 by Parma, dropping out of the top four. They are currently in the sixth position, two points behind Atalanta in fourth.

Fonseca’s future at Roma is largely predicated on his team’s ability to qualify for the Champions League next season. The top four teams in Serie A automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Roma has shortlisted Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri for the position of head coach. Friedkin’s team is also looking at candidates from outside of Italy.

Fonseca wants to stay with Roma, and his deal will be automatically extended if the team advances to the Champions League. Since 2019, a Portuguese coach has been in charge of the team.
