Allan Saint-Maximin

Allan Saint Maximin has donated over 60 care packages to NHS employees on Tyneside. Luxury confectionery boxes made by French chocolatiers. Coupons for leading high street stores, and a note of thanks from the Newcastle United winger are among the presents.

Allan Saint Maximin – The Significant Charity Sponser

Medics at the city’s two major hospitals, the Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Freeman, have remembered that the French winger is a significant sponsor of the charity Newcastle United Foundation. The foundation has supported young cancer patients and others with chronic illnesses through the pandemic, among other items.

Saint-Maximin, an on-field maverick with a social conscience, has previously visited – and contributed to – Newcastle’s West End Foodbank, and he remains active with the campaign.

Inspired by the Foundation’s efforts during the Covid-19 crisis, which appeared often on his Twitter account, the Magpies star reached out to the club’s official charitable arm to assist him in distributing presents to Newcastle’s primary staff.

A year after the UK’s first lockdown, the 24-year-old Frenchman was inspired to send something back to “the true heroes” to raise the hearts of Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust employees.

Newcastle United Foundation staff were able to securely distribute the care packages on Saint-behalf Maximin’s since the organization was already linked to the NHS through its work helping young cancer victims and chronic disease patients in the region.

The United winger said: “We are in an incredibly fortunate situation as footballers as we know we are very privileged. The work the NHS staff and key workers at places like food banks have been doing here is inspirational. It makes you want to help as much as possible. I would like to thank everyone. For all of their amazing work and to celebrate the real heroes of my city. These guys are all incredible and they are doing a wonderful job.”

The Note

The note reads:

To our real heroes,

I am fortunate to be warmly applauded by people from Newcastle. Game after game. This time I wanted to be the one who’s applauding. I wanted to applaud you.The best team of my city, the hospital medical staff of Newcastle!

I have great respect for what you did!

Thank you for being there for us.
