After Leverkusen Voller to enter ‘world-class club’ on Havertz advises

Football News

Rudi Voller, managing director of Bayer Leverkusen, believes that Kai Havertz can continue to play for one of the world’s elite clubs-but he hopes he can count on his services for some time.

Havertz, 20, proved a surprise this season for Leverkusen as they seek a Champions League spot.

The playmaker has scored 11 goals in 26 appearances in the Bundesliga, most recently scoring the winner in a crucial 1-0 win over Freiburg that keeps Leverkusen at points with fourth-placed Borussia Monchengladbach, and also contributed five assists as well as three Europa League strikes as the club remains in the continental honor.

Such a sparkling impact in Europe has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all reportedly interested in the services of the youngster.

However, Voller maintains that Leverkusen will attempt to keep its gem.

“I’m honest, I always have such a small hope that we can and will keep him here for another year,” explained Sky Sports Wednesday the former Germany international and 1990 World Cup winner when asked about Havertz’s future at the club.

If Havertz ultimately chooses to leave, Voller is in no doubt that it will be at a European heavyweight-and that his £90 million ($113 m) value will not be affected, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz also thinks very much about his charge, telling TalkSport that in his play he sees shades of Real Madrid ‘s great Zinedine Zidane.

on Saturday, Havertz and Leverkusen are back in action and will try to derail the title challenge from Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga leaders visit the BayArena.
