On Friday morning, the 16th round of the Copa del Rey draw took place after the third round was completed earlier this week.

Barcelona news sees the club taking on Segunda outfit Rayo Vallecano, who in the previous round beat La Liga outfit Elche 2-0, and will welcome Vallecas to the Blaugrana.

Potentially, the two remaining round ties are games between top-flight participants as current competition holders, dating back to their 2019 victory, Valencia travels to Seville, while Real Betis hosts Real Sociedad, whose 2020 final remains to be played against Basque rivals Athletic Club Bilbao.

As they fly to the giant-killing Segunda B Alcoyano, who defeated both Huesca and, memorably, Real Madrid, Athletic face a possible banana skin, while Navalcarnero, the other remaining third-tier team, play host to Granada, beaten semi-finalists last year.

The other La Liga tie sees Real Valladolid host Levante while Villarreal and Osasuna face test trips to Girona and Almeria respectively, high-flying Segunda sides.

The matches will be played on the dates of January 26, 27, and 28.

Copa del Rey last 16 draws:

Alcoyano v Athletic Club

Navalcarnero v Granada

Girona v Villarreal

Rayo Vallecano v Barcelona

Almeria v Osasuna

Real Valladolid v Levante

Sevilla v Valencia

Real Betis v Real Sociedad
