Arsenal: Mikel Arteta signs a contract extension until 2025

Arsenal: Mikel Arteta

Arsenal has announced that manager Mikel Arteta has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2024/25 season. Arteta was appointed in 2019 and has led the team to fourth in the Premier League with four games to go. They have yet to face their North London rivals Tottenham in a game that could be a shootout for fourth potentially. If Arsenal does qualify for the Champions League, it will be the first time that they will do so since 2017.

“We want to take the club to the next level and to compete really with the top teams,” Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said. “In order to do that, we have to be playing in the Champions League. We have to be able to evolve the team, improve our players, improve all departments, generate even more connections with our fans, improve the atmosphere at the Emirates, and be able to recruit top, top talent and the best people for this club to drive this project to that level.”

“I’m excited, grateful, and really, really happy today. When I spoke to Josh he could see the club at the same point and he wanted to take the club the way I wanted to do it. So everything that he’s said, and that Stan has said when I’ve been together with both of them, they’ve always delivered,” he added.

Arsenal Women boss Jonas Eidevall has also signed a new contract after an impressive first season in charge. They trail leaders Chelsea by a solitary point going into the last game of the season.

“It’s great, it allows me to continue to work for a club that I love so much and be around people that I really, really like, and to be able to achieve things together, so I’m really looking forward to that,” he added.
