Lithuania’s top-level football club FK Zalgiris affirmed Sunday the retirement of French forward David N’Gog at the age of 31.

Starting the career with French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, N’Gog made his senior introduction in 2006 and in 2008 won the Coupe de la Ligue. He was marked at the start of the 2008–09 season by English Premier League club Liverpool. He moved to individual Premier League side Bolton Wanderers after three years however was relegated after just one season with them.

“Obviously, his choice was astounding for all-coaches and team individuals. David ‘s career is remarkable, he has played in Europe and the world’s best clubs,” Vilma Venslovaitiene, the club’s team manager said in a statement.

N’Gog announced his retirement in 2020, after spells in Greece, Scotland, Hungary and Lithuania. He is a previous French youth international, having earned caps at all young levels. Nonetheless, he was also qualified to speak to Cameroon, by way of his father, and was approached by Cameroon in the past to make the move.

N’Gog, 31, had played for Liverpool, Bolton, and Swansea for Paris Saint-Germain and English clubs in France.
