Cristiano Ronaldo questions future at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo believes he was provoked by Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag after refusing to come on against Tottenham. Although Ten Hag expressed “regret” for his actions against Tottenham in October, Ronaldo claimed that he felt that the penalty he received was excessive and that Ten Hag “does not respect” him in the manner he “deserves.” Ronaldo stated he turned down a €350 million (£305 million) deal to play in Saudi Arabia this summer in the concluding segment of his bombshell TalkTV interview with Piers Morgan. He also said he had “several offers” to quit United.

The 37-year-old claimed he planned to keep competing until he turned 40. After the World Cup in Qatar, he hasn’t chosen which club he’ll play for, but he made a hint that he would leave Manchester United, stating it would “probably be good to start a new chapter” in his career. Away from United, Ronaldo said that although though Arsenal presently has a five-point lead over Manchester City in the Premier League, he would be “happy” if they were to win it. Ronaldo said in footage from the same interview that was previously broadcast this week that he was “close” to joining Manchester City last summer before Sir Alex Ferguson interfered. Additionally, Ronaldo has nothing but negative things to say about the club’s young players during the Ralf Rangnick era.

“You didn’t start me against Manchester City out of respect for my career, but you want to start me for three minutes against Tottenham? It makes no sense.” Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo said. “I think he had it in mind to do it. I felt provoked, not just because of the game but also earlier. He doesn’t show me the respect that I deserve. But things are what they are. I probably left the match against Tottenham for this reason. To be quite honest with you, I regret leaving the stadium [during the game against Tottenham]. Most likely, however, I’m not sure.”
