Chelsea is playing host to the family of Brazilian wonder kid Endrick as they look at the possibility of signing him. The 16-year-old is one of the most sought-after young players in world football, and a number of clubs, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Manchester City, are said to be interested in signing him. Endrick, who last month at the age of 16 years, 2 months, and 16 days made his debut appearance for Palmeiras’ first squad, has since scored three goals in the Brazilian Serie A following a highly successful stint at the club’s youth academy. Endrick and his family were introduced to Brazilian World Cup captain and fellow countryman Thiago Silva by Chelsea. Endrick’s father Douglas also paid a visit to Stamford Bridge.
After turning 18 in July 2024, Endrick will be able to sign any possible contract with a new team the following year before making the move. When Endrick won the awards for the most valuable player and goal of the tournament at one of the most prestigious U20 tournaments in the world, the Copinha in Sao Paulo, at the age of 15, he became a target for a number of European powerhouses. In just 90 minutes of action spread across three games against more experienced opponents, Endrick scored five goals.
At the time, he was valued at up to €40 million (£35 million), and Palmeira is convinced they can get more than the £29.3 million Manchester City gave them for Gabriel Jesus in 2016. The Brazilian team thinks Endrick is a player of a generation who may someday be likened to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Endrick’s father works as a caretaker at Palmeiras, and his family has a long history with the team. The English teams with the strongest chances of signing Endrick were thought to be Chelsea and Manchester City.
