Celtic announced that James Forrest has signed a three-year contract extension with the club, one day after they reclaimed the Scottish Premiership title. They won their 10th title in 11 seasons with Forrest being a part of all of them. Forrest made only eight appearances this season after he suffered a knee injury early in the season. He has now won 10 league titles along with five Scottish Cups and five League Cups. Forrest has moved into the top four most decorated Celtic players behind Bobby Lennox (25), Billy McNeill (23), and Scott Brown (22).
“James is my kind of player and has that attacking intent that can open up defenses to make goals, not only for himself but for others as well,” Celtic head coach Ange Postcolou said about James Forrest. “He’s been a great servant to the football club thanks to his brilliant quality and attributes, and those have made him a proven contributor to the club’s success – you only have to look at his medal collection to see that. I know we will get more of this from him next season and beyond, and I’m delighted that this deal has been finalized.”
