According to Mikel Arteta, Gabriel Martinelli is required to sideline for a considerable length of time.

Gabriel Martinelli won’t play against Southampton on Thursday after Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has revealed that the striker will be out with a “months” knee injury

During training, Martinelli endured a thump, a minor cartilage fracture in his left knee on Sunday, and the Brazilian is set to experience further tests throughout the following barely any days.

Arteta said in a question and answer session on Tuesday: “We had some bad news in training again yesterday. Another player hit the last action he [Martinelli] got and he damaged his knee. The doctors are assessing the seriousness of the injury yet it doesn’t take a gander at all.

When asked to what extent the forward would not be available, Arteta said: “We don’t have a clue, however, it’s searching for quite a long time.”

Arsenal has also affirmed that Bernd Leno is precluded with a moderate ligament strain for as long as about a month and a half. Defender Pablo Mari will return in a few months and won’t play for the remainder of the campaign. Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Granit Xhaka have come back to regular training.

Leno was extended off with a knee injury before half-time at the Amex Stadium on Saturday during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton.

In the principal half, Bernd Leno was extended off after his impact with Neal Maupay with Brighton

Brighton forward Neal Maupay ran up with the German goalkeeper for an aerial challenge and constrained Leno onto the ground. Leno then reacted angrily to Maupay as he left the field with help from the medical team at Arsenal.
